easy and really fast October 1, 2009 K. Meadows (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I wanted to create a site for the village club and residents, and bought this because I don't have a lot of computer experience. The thing that made it simple was the templates - by choosing one of these it really makes life easy by leading you through the whole design process. You can start with a blank template if you prefer, but we didn't feel the need to make life more complicated, and the site we created looks fab - we can link to other peoples photo albums on Picasa and Facebook to show village events too, which is a really nice feature, to avoid us having to upload them all again.
Bargain website! October 5, 2009 C. A. Donoghue 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've never tried web design before, so picked the cheapest version to give it a go. I've created a really simple website to showcase my photos and it works really well. I picked one of the templates that are pre-designed and just changed the colour scheme, and it certainly does the job for you. I'm pleased with the results, I got a website online for less than £30!
An end to website headaches! October 1, 2009 K. Gouskos 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've created my own website using this in about 2 hours. I was expecting it to be much more difficult, but it guides you through quite nicely so you can't really go wrong! I picked a template that was included as it matched the style I was hoping to create, plus I didn't really want the hassle of creating my own and this made my website-building much quicker. I've used the domain and hosting that was in the pack, as it was by far the simplest solution.
Plenty of templates November 13, 2009 stephen Luff (Worthing, Sussex United Kingdom) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
First off loading this from cd was very smooth. It comes with a small but handy sized booklet of 90 pages.
I was looking for a web design package that would offer a new fresh look to my website without me having to fiddle around too much.
What I liked straight away was this package has a likable way of presenting itself to you. By that I mean when you load it up it looks like its fairly easy to use and therefore inviting. However, its presented in a way that looks professional and not simple in a 1970's iconic way.
The test I did was to pick a theme for the website and see how I could play around with the look. Picking a theme took quite a while as there are plenty of choices. The choices are divided into categories of, business, hobbies, home use and so on. Backgrounds can be changed, there's a colour gradient on the background, that can also be changed as well as other additional variations.
The standard templates are initially locked. So I tried to change a symbol on the top left to insert a different I couldn't. But with a simple right click of the mouse an unlock option appears. All elements are then open for change. So this is an example of something intuitive.
The next simple test I did was to open a new site and try out the site designer.
I felt once again this was really easy to use, offering so many combinations that one can design an original looking website.
As a web designer I think this package would be a great asset. It will knock up a website with minimal fiddling about.
However, that's by no means to suggest that a beginner couldn't use this. Anyone with a bit of knowledge of using simple programs such as paint shop pro, powerpoint, word etc should have no trouble putting something together. I would also add that as one progresses in the knowledge of the package it will be straight forward to build one's knowledge.
I've tested out about 4 different web design packages recently. I've used net fusion for years. I still get most of what I need from version 7.5. However, I want to try something different. This one has appealed to me for the first time to actually consider re-doing my website. Its important for me to have flexibility and a look I like. The net fusion sitestyles I have available are mostly horrible. I felt these are really fresh and inviting.
My overall impression is that this package has been well thought out. I can also tell its been tested thoroughly by non-web designers. I say that because of its ease of use. Everything is quite easy to find.
Short cut to the word-wide-web! November 8, 2009 A. B. Mcmullon 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are looking to design a modest website for business or for a club or society this will do the job relatively quickly, easily and cheaply. If you don't need to go beyond the basic templates offered here you will be perfctly satisfied. Certainly most small clubs or groups will find this quite adequate and enjoy the results.
Even if you think that your needs are going to be a bit more demanding and sophisticated this is still a good place to start as it will give you a basic understanding of where to start and help you to define what those needs are going to be. You will then be in a better position to decide whether or not to buy a more expensive and sophisticated package or to hire someone else to sort it all for you - usually even more expensive unless you have a web designer in the family!
